$300,958 West Texas Futurity Sunday

With only three live race days to go, Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino unveils a series
of big money stakes races this weekend.

Saturday's 11th race is the $217,552 Copper Top Futurity at four and one-half furlongs.
The rich two-year-old race has attracted the top two finishers from 10 trials held on
April 1.

The impressive filly Devonairre won her trial heat by a stylish 3-lengths and had plenty
in reserve. The daughter of Devon Lane deserves serious consideration with jockey
Miguel Perez in the saddle.

Waymore's Blues and Salt Box will rekindle their heated rivalry from a photo finish
in the trials. Under a prolonged drive, Waymore's Blues nipped his rival in the final
jumps.

Ballado's Bullet, Cashete and Mission Delta were also trial winners.

Saturday's 4th race at 870 yards is the $50,000 Getaway Handicap. Heavenly
Corona leads a solid field of distance specialists. Roy Marcom's talented 870 yard
expert has won his last two races impressively and is well prepared. He will face a
stern challenge from multiple winners Kokopelli Bold and Pilgrim Wayne.

Hot riding Salvador Martinez guides Heavenly Corona from the #8 post position.

The 5th race is the $50,000 West Texas Juvenile for two-year-olds racing 300 yards.

Sunday's first class 13-race card offers plenty of major league races including the
Grade 1 $300,958 West Texas Futurity and the $100,000 Sunland Park Handicap.

The 50th running of the West Texas Futurity at 300 yards is a collection of the world's
finest two-year-old talent. Fast Prize Zoom set a new world record in the trials with a
devastating time of 14.87 seconds. She and jockey G.R. Carter won by over 2 lengths
and appear to be the favorites in an elite group. The Shazoom filly is one of 3 finalists
conditioned by last year's West Texas Futurity winning trainer Wesley Giles.

The Giles armada also includes the very sharp Reacorona and Feature Ten.

2007 All American Futurity winning trainer Carl Draper qualified four finalists. He
holds some strong cards in the 4th race with both the unbeaten Ls Separatist and
Jess Significant.

The $100,000 Sunland Park Handicap is Sunday's 12th race. The 1 and 1/8 mile
Thoroughbred featured lured the stretch running dynamo Red Rock Creek. Steven
Asmussen's 18-race winner looked very polished winning a $37,500 allowance
on WinStar Derby day.

His chief rivals are Curribot Handicap winner Broke Sharply and the swift One Lucky
Buck from the Chris Hartman stable.

Sunday's card is also enhanced with a $46,500 Invitational Handicap (11th race)
at six and one-half furlongs. La Senora Handicap winner Askmetodance looms
large in a field of ten.

The highly successful live racing season comes to a close on Tuesday with the
running of the $40,000 Adios Amigos Claiming Handicap. The first 500 fans will
receive a free Ice Cream Sandwich courtesy of Shamrock Foods.

Post time on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday is 12:55 p.m.
